About Me

Prepare yourself for a cornucopic journey of sight and sound as you enter the wondrous realm of El Struthio’s Stuff’! Your pleasure centres and all six of your senses will be close to overload as you are left breathless and gasping for more, More, MORE!!!

Alternatively, welcome to my bolg about stuff and whatnot.

What’s in a name?

For as long as I can remember I’ve thought that ostriches are really cool and the Latin name for the ostrich is Struthio camelus, hence the name of the site.

A Bit About Me

I live in Nottingham UK with my wife, three kids, two dogs and several tropical fish (getting severaler all the time – bleedin’ guppies are worse than rabbits).

I was born in 1968 which makes me thirtyforty-something-or-other (nothing can stop the march of time).

I love pasta.
I hate parsnips.

I got my first computer, a Sinclair ZX81 complete with wobbly RAM Pack, in 1981. Since then I’ve been hooked. I’ve owned an Oric, Amstrad CPCs (464 and 6128), an Amiga 600, an Amiga 1200 an now a PC.

When it comes to computers I’m a tweaker at heart. I like to push buttons, change configurations and select different options just to see what happens. Many’s the time when I’ve sat-up late trying to fix something that’s gone wrong when I’ve been playing with it. Hopefully I’ve learned from mistakes along the way.

I can so relate. We started on the Radio Shack, went Tandy when the rest of the world went PC, then Mac. Now our family is divided between PC and Mac and love them ALL! Love your ostrich pix too!!! :)

Hi Kaye Thank you for your comment.

I used to enjoy the days of lots of different computer systems: Speccies, Orics, Texas, Atari, Amiga, MSX, Tandys etc. The computer scene seemed so much more exciting back then.
